Shem, the talented singer from Los Angeles…
Shem is a singer-songwriter living in the Los Angeles area. He began his life in music at a very young age assisting his father Artie Schroeck in the recording studios in New York. Artie was a big producer of records and jingles from the late ’60’s to through the mid-’80’s and Shem’s responsibilities ranged from co-writing, arranging and playing drums and/or bass on many of these tracks.
For the last eleven years he has been touring with the group Ambrosia, filling out their rich sound of progressive harmonies and lush vocal arrangements.
From 1994 through 1996 he consistently worked with Grammy Award winning artist Kenny Loggins, contributing to two U.S. tours and several T.V. appearances.
Upon hearing about Shem, Steve Perry invited him to join his solo band project promoting the album, “For the Love of Strange Medicine” in 1994. One of Shem’s favorite credentials is working with his friend Marie Osmond on her “Magic of Christmas” tours. In 1998 he toured with the one and only Tom Jones on his year long, world tour and in 1999, Jim Messina´s new band featured Shem playing acoustic guitar, bass and singing second vocals. Now in 2000, Shem finds himself splitting time between touring with Christopher Cross and Ambrosia.
In addition to extensive touring, Shem has found himself singing and playing for various artists at selected performances. He is a regular back-up vocalist for the “Tonight Show Band” and has sung behind such artists as Tanya Tucker, Peter Cetera, Sheena Easton and Amy Grant.
In June of ’96 he played in the Dave Koz band for President Bill Clinton at the Democratic Rund Raiser in Los Angeles and plays bass for Patti Austin at the Hollywood Bowl JVC Jazz Festivals. He also finds time for studio session work with well known producers and composers such as Rhett Lawrence, Don Grusin, Mike Post, John DiAndrea, David Pack and Charlie Callelo.
With almost two decades of experience in the music industry, Shem is now entertaining audiences with his own voice and music. His high vocal range and acoustic guitar playing make for a warm, enjoyable concert of meaningful songs and poetry. As a one man, self-contained act, Shem is perfect for any live situation as both headliner or opening act.
